Behind the Scenes: Geagea Seeks Saudi Financial Help

Geagea-- “Lebanese Forces” MP Antoine Zahra's recent visit to Saudi Arabia did not yield any success according to well-informed sources.

The aim of the visit was to discuss issues related to the new electoral law proposed by his party, and to request early financial support that could be used to manage election activities.

Zahra's failure prompted Samir Geagea’s visit to Jeddah in an attempt to request Riyadh's help.


Arms---- According to well connected foreign media sources, Saudi Arabia has taken a decision to stop sending heavy or sophisticated arms to Syria after discovering that parts of the shipments have come back and ended in the hands of al Qaeda groups inside Saudi Arabia.

------ A deep feeling of hesitancy and mistrust haunts the Turkish leadership because of the disappointment that all attempts to topple President Bashar Assad were futile. The Turkish side lays the blame on the early hasty judgments that said the Syrian regime would collapse in two months.
