As shock governs the "Israeli" political and military arenas due to the Palestinian resistance, diplomatic efforts escalated to save the Zionist entity from Gaza's quagmire.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian capital, Cairo, leads the indirect negotiations between Palestinian resistance and "Israel". It was further learned that Qatar and Turkey entered the mediation rings after US President Barak Obama urged to stop what he called "violence against "Israel"."
""Israel" has every right to expect that it does not have missiles fired into its territory," Obama said in Thailand. "If that can be accomplished without a ramping up of military activity in Gaza, that is preferable."
In parallel, Hamas chief Khaled Meshaal and Islamic Jihad leader Ramadan Shallah were in the Egyptian capital over the weekend for talks aimed at hammering out a cease-fire agreement.
Meshaal and Shallah held talks with Egyptian, Qatari and Turkish mediators, who then relayed the Palestinian demands to US negotiators, an official confirmed. An "Israeli" negotiation team was also in Cairo Sunday.
An official from a Palestinian group, speaking on the condition of anonymity due to the high-level nature of the talks, said the escalation of strikes, specifically the targeting of densely populated areas, represented "Israel's" failing attempt to "increase pressure on the Palestinian resistance to force us to a truce."
But "the capacity of the resistance has not suffered great losses," he added.
Moreover, the official said that the Palestinians had three main demands ahead of a cease-fire: that "Israel" halt its aggression toward Gaza; that targeted assassinations cease; and that the economic blockade of enclave ends.
Also Sunday, "Israel" hinted at a ground invasion of the enclave as the next stage of its offensive. "The army is prepared to significantly expand the operation," "Israeli" Primwe Minister Netanyahu said at the weekly cabinet meeting Sunday morning.
Silvan Shalom, one of the Netanyahu's deputies, said: "There are contacts, but they are currently far from being concluded."
This comes as "Israeli" army revealed that it has attacked the Gaza Strip 1,350 times since Wednesday.
At least 90 Palestinians, including women and children, have been killed in the Gaza Strip since November 14, as the Zionist regime continues attacking the besieged territory for the sixth consecutive day.
