RAMALLAH, (PIC)-- Abdullah Barghouthi, a Hamas commander serving 67 life sentences in Israeli occupation jails, has renewed insistence on resisting occupation of his land until final liberation.
He told Al-Jazeera net website on Monday that Palestinian resistance should capture more Israeli soldiers to free Palestinian prisoners in occupation jails.
He held Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu responsible for impeding the prisoners exchange deal, opining that it would not be accomplished in the foreseen future due to Netanyahu's preoccupation with other issues.
Barghouthi said that his name was the third on the list of prisoners Hamas tabled to be released in return for the captured Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, after Marwan Al-Barghouthi and Ahmed Saadat.
Shalit will remain in captivity as long as Palestinian prisoners were not released, he said, noting that the father of Shalit knows that Netanyahu was the one obstructing his son's release.
Barghouthi, a father of three children, was known as the engineer of the Qassam Brigades the armed wing of Hamas in the West Bank, and was charged with preparing explosive devices for resistance fighters. He was arrested on 5/3/2003 after two years of chase.
