CAIRO, (PIC)-- Senior Egyptian officer said that the Rafah border crossing with the besieged Gaza Strip will be soon opened on a regular basis after making security arrangements for that.

This came after friends of humanity international organization sent a letter in this regard to the higher council of the Egyptian army urging it to open Rafah crossing before movement of individuals and goods and release all Palestinian detainees still in local jails.

Friends of humanity said in a statement on Tuesday that Gaza population has been under blockade for 60 months, and unable to live normally or reconstruct their bombed homes and structures, so the Egyptian authorities are demanded now to take the humanitarian needs of Gazans into account.

In a separate context, Dr. Yousuf Al-Mudalal, director of the Palestinian health minister's office, said that the name of Mubarak hospital for children in Khan Younis city was changed into Attahrir hospital.

Dr. Mudalal added in broadcast remarks on Tuesday morning that a ministerial decision was issued in this regard, stressing that the government had to change the name of this hospital after the Egyptian people removed Hosni Mubarak from power.

Mubarak hospital was established in the era of late president Yasser Arafat who suggested this name for the hospital in recognition of the ousted Egyptian president's efforts in support of the peace process and Oslo agreement in 1993.
