Israel reaches out to Gazans in bid to bypass Shalit swap deal

GAZA, (PIC)-- Israel shows no surrender after years of failure in circumventing the demands of the captors of Gilad Shalit, a soldier captured by resistance forces during a 2007 raid on IOF troops deployed around Gaza.

His captors are pushing for a swap between Shalit and thousands of Palestinians, including women and children, detained by Israel as war prisoners and resistance fighters.

Gazans across the strip have recently received text and voice messages offering astronomical sums of money for any information leading to Shalit's whereabouts.

The move reveals Israel's real position that it is not serious in recovering Shalit by negotiations or a swap deal but rather insists on getting him by force without paying the price, said POW researcher Abdul-Nasser Farwana.

Similar messages had been sent across the Gaza Strip previously, Farwana added.

He said it reflects the failure of Israel's security agencies in getting information on Shalit since four and a half years of his capture in the strip.

He also lauded Shalit's captors as they managed to hide him from Israel's technologically advanced agencies throughout that time span in an area no more than 360 sq. kilometers.

He called upon the captors to take extra caution to conceal Shalit's location and ensure a swap deal that would have key resistance leaders released.
