Abu Hilal: Haneyya was sincere about his call for national dialog
[ 17/03/2011 - 11:15 AM ]
GAZA, (PIC)-- Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haneyya was sincere in calls to de facto president Mahmoud Abbas to begin reconciliation talks, said Khaled Abu Hilal, secretary-general of the Palestinian Ahrar movement.
He pointed out in a press release on Thursday that Haneyya did not set terms ahead of talks, even those self-explanatory, such as an end to security coordination with Israel and West Bank arrests targeting resistance fighters.
Abbas has agreed to go to the Strip to talk about a unity government with Hamas leaders, but has set conditions before heading out.
”Our people don't need more governments, but only aspire for a clear political program working to strengthen the Palestinian ranks, protect the resistance, stop negotiations, put an end to the series of concessions and criminalize security coordination and cooperation.”
He said the popular protests that recently swept the West Bank and Gaza Strip not only demanded national unity, but sought unity based on the protection of national rights and resistance against the Israeli occupation.
Abu Hilal also touched on the recent escalation by Israel, saying Israel was exploiting current conditions laid out by the popular unity-demanding movements in a bid to ”shuffle papers” as Israel usually does when sending its ”bloody messages”.
He said Israel will “not hesitate to take the chance to shed the blood of Palestinians”.
