DAMASCUS, (PIC)-- Hamas has condemned the killing of Al-Jazeera cameraman Ali Hassan al-Jaber as ”a failed attempt to conceal massacres against the Libyans.”

Jaber died in an ambush by Qaddafi's forces near the flashpoint Libyan city of Benghazi.

”We strongly condemn the armed attacks on Al-Jazeera near Benghazi,” a Hamas official said in a statement.

”We send our condolences and sympathy to the family of the deceased Ali Hassan al-Jaber.”

Hamas has expressed its solidarity with Al-Jazeera and the free press defending Arab issues and human rights.

In a separate statement, the Forum of Palestinian Journalists called the attack, which also left Al-Jazeera correspondent Nasser al-Hadar injured, a result of ”an unprecedented and ongoing incitement campaign against Al-Jazeera by Libya and several other Arab country's that fear their reality's will be exposed to the public.”

The statement calls on Al-Jazeera and the Federation of Arab Journalists not to remain silent over the crime, and to prosecute the offenders by any means necessary.
