Palestinians’ vigil at Aqsa Mosque succeeds in fending off Zionist attackers

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- The Palestinian worshipers, who mounted an eight-day vigil at the Aqsa Mosque, stated that they successfully frustrated the plans of extremist Jewish groups to storm the Aqsa Mosque during their feast which ended Saturday.
This came during a news conference on the latest events in the occupied city of Jerusalem organized by Palestinian national and Islamic forces in the city.
Sheikh Yousuf Al-Baz, a senior official of the Islamic Movement and a representative of worshipers inside the Mosque, told the conference that the continuous presence of Palestinians inside the Aqsa Mosque was aimed to defend and protect it against the Zionist dangers threatening it.
For his part, Sheikh Ekrema Sabri, the preacher of the Aqsa Mosque, hailed the Palestinian citizens inside the Mosque for their steadfastness in the face of Israeli attempts to attack it, pointing out that their efforts drew the world’s attention to the Israeli schemes plotted against the Mosque.
Sheikh Sabri noted that having retreats and holding prayers inside the Aqsa Mosque or any other mosque are the right of all Muslims and the Israeli police have no right to interfere in Muslim religious affairs.
For his part, bishop Attallah Hanna conveyed the solidarity of Christian churches and community in Jerusalem with their Muslim brothers inside the holy Mosque.
“The worshipers’ presence inside the Aqsa Mosque was aimed at delivering a clear message that we are committed to the protection of our holy places in Jerusalem,” Hanna underscored.
In the same context, the popular resistance committees and its armed wing hailed the Palestinian worshipers and citizens who foiled Israeli attempts to storm the Aqsa Mosque.
Spokesman for the committees Abu Mujahed said in a press release that the Israeli siege which was imposed on the Aqsa Mosque for more than a week was aimed to enable extremist Jewish gangs to storm the Mosque and hold their rituals in its courtyards in order to confer legitimacy on their fabricated Talmudic practices inside the Mosque.
For her part, Hamas lawmaker Mona Mansour hailed the steadfastness of Palestinian worshipers inside the Mosque and called on the Arab and Muslim masses to continue their solidarity with the Jerusalem.
Mansour also called for guarding against Israel’s deceit and cunning and get prepared to defend Jerusalem and the Aqsa Mosque against coming rounds of Zionist attacks and violations.
In the same context, dozens of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon staged a sit-in in the village of Marwaheen on the Lebanese-Palestinian borders in protest at the Israeli violations against Jerusalem and the Aqsa Mosque.
The refugees stressed during the sit-in the importance of continuing to support the people of Jerusalem who stood in the face of Israeli violations against them in the holy city.
