DAMASCUS, (PIC)-- Ziyad Nakhala, the deputy secretary general of Islamic Jihad, has said that the Israeli war ministry was planning a new ferocious offensive against the Gaza Strip.

In a statement to the Jordanian newspaper Al-Ghad published on Saturday, Nakhala said that Israel was hesitant in launching the invasion, which he expected would be the bloodiest, fearing the resistance's potentials.

He said that Gaza is the main obstacle in the region at present in face of the Israeli negotiations with the Palestinians and Arabs.

The Jihad leader said that his movement was preparing for any Israeli aggression, adding that it was insistent on retaliating to Israeli attacks but would not initiate launching rockets.

He lauded the current field harmony with Hamas and other resistance factions, revealing that a joint operations command room was being discussed.

Nakhala called for re-drafting the Egyptian document on a proposed Palestinian reconciliation.
