Barhoum asks Abbas to prove falsity of Hebrew report, send aid to Gaza

GAZA, (PIC)-- Fawzi Barhoum, a Hamas spokesman, urged Mahmoud Abbas, the de facto PA chief, to prove falsehood of a Hebrew press report and to personally lead an aid shipment to the Gaza Strip.
Hebrew daily Ha'aretz said that Abbas asked US president Barack Obama during their meeting a couple of days ago in Washington not to call for an end to the Israeli naval blockade on the Strip fearing it would bolster Hamas.
Barhoum said in a press release on Sunday that Abbas should also solve the problem of civil servants sacked by his "illegitimate" government in Ramallah and to clearly call for ending the four-year-old siege on Gaza.
He said that if the news item was true then it would be a very serious position on the part of Abbas especially at the time when the entire world was calling for lifting the siege.
The spokesman asked Abbas to adopt practical resolutions to end the siege on Gaza, noting that Abbas was still impeding national reconciliation by allowing continued closure of Hamas institutions in the West Bank, maintaining security coordination with Israel, and sanctioning political detention.
