OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- A campaign of signatures on a document known as the "Jerusalemite bond" started Friday in the village of Sur Baher, south of the occupied city of Jerusalem, to defend the city and stand by the lawmakers and the minister Israel decided to expel at the pretext they are unlawful residents.
Heads of Palestinian clans and dignitaries announced the birth of this document in which they denounced the Israeli occupation authority (IOA) for its persistent Judaization activities in the holy city and its decision to exile three Jerusalemite lawmakers and one former minister because of their political affiliation.
The Jerusalemite bond document, which was read out after the Friday prayers in the Omari Mosque in the village, will reach all Palestinian villages in the holy city for signature.
The clans considered the Israeli measures against the Jerusalemite citizens as unjust and illegal and demanded all Palestinian citizens, human rights organizations, and the government to adopt and support the issue of the lawmakers and the minister.
The IOA withdrew all the identity documents of Hamas-affiliated lawmakers Ahmed Attoun, Mohamed Totah, and Mohamed Abu Teir along with the former minister Khaled Abu Arafa as a prelude to exiling them next month from Jerusalem.
The Israeli intention to exile the lawmakers from Jerusalem dates back to four years ago when the then Israeli minister of interior threatened to confiscate their IDs if they did not resign from the Hamas change and reform parliamentary bloc.
For their part, the lawmakers and the minister threatened with exile declared they would not leave Jerusalem and bow to the Israeli decision to banish them from their hometown, stressing they would confront it by all means possible.
Lawmaker Attoun said the decision was taken by the IOA at the highest political level and was enforced by the Israeli police without referring to the higher court in Jerusalem.
He affirmed that he, on behalf of his colleagues, would send letters to media outlets, human rights organizations, and the UN to brief them on the Israeli violations committed against them and the Palestinians in general in Jerusalem.
