DOHA, (PIC)-- Dr. Yousef Al-Qardawi, the chairman of the international union of Muslim scholars, has urged the Arab leaders meeting in Libya to withdraw their peace initiative and to support resistance against Israeli occupation.

Qardawi, addressing the Friday congregation in the Qatari capital, asked the Arab heads of state to listen to their peoples and to shoulder their responsibilities towards national issues topped by the Palestine cause.

Independence is not attained by "begging", the Sheikh said, describing such a situation as "going against the norms of history".

He asked de facto Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas "how could you go to negotiations with no weapons in your support then expect them to grant you independence just like that".

The renowned Muslim propagator called on the Arab leaders not to follow what America tells them because it does not give them anything in the end.

Sabri urges Arab leaders to activate their decisions on Jerusalem

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- Sheikh Ekrema Sabri, the head of the supreme Islamic council in the occupied city of Jerusalem, has urged the Arab leaders meeting in the Libyan city of Sirte to activate the decisions they had taken more than a year ago to support Jerusalem.

In an interview with the Quds Press on Saturday, Sabri stressed that those decisions mustn’t remain "ink on paper", and that they should be implemented in order to enhance the steadfastness of Palestinian Jerusalemites who defend the Aqsa Mosque and the city of Jerusalem against the Israeli schemes to Judaize them.

He also pointed out that the Israeli occupation authority never halted its activities to Judaize the city, adding that the IOA intention to expand the Buraq plaza and to establish new Zionist buildings at the expense of the Mosque's land prove right that the Israeli efforts to judaize the city is going on.

He further warned that in the event the expansion was implemented, it would entail adverse repercussions on the identity of the Mosque, and it would destroy many Muslim features of the holy city.

Sabri also lashed out at the UNESCO for not doing anything to bridle the Israeli greed in Jerusalem and the violent actions the IOA is taking against the city. He also did not rule out connivance between the UNESCO and the IOA, saying that UNESCO's silence on what the IOA was and still is doing in Jerusalem is interpreted that way.

Moreover, the Palestinian Jerusalemite Sheikh warned that the Israeli far right wants to control the city of Jerusalem.

In this concern, Sabri called on the Palestinian people regardless of their political affiliations to stand up as one body against the Israeli schemes and to salvage Jerusalem from judaization.
