Israeli Missile Drops Syrian Fighter Jet over Golan - Updated

Zionist entity downs Syrian fighter jet over Golan HeightsThe Zionist entity said Tuesday that a Syrian fighter jet was shot down by a Zionist patriot missile over the Golan Heights.

The Zionist army believes that the jet entered Zionist airspace by accident for a couple of seconds en route to attacking terrorists' positions in Quneitra on the Golan, penetrating a few hundred meters before turning back.

"A jet was successfully intercepted by our aerial defense system along the Syrian border," the enemy military said in a statement.

For his part, the Zionist Defense Minister warned that the occupation entity would respond "forcefully" to attempts to threaten its security.

"This morning, the IDF fighters managing the air defense systems brought down a Syrian fighter plane which approached Israel's sovereign territory on the Golan in a threatening manner, and even crossed the frontier," Yaalon said in a statement.

"We will not allow anyone, whether it is a state actor or a terror organization, to threaten our security and breach our sovereignty," Yaalon said.

"We will respond forcefully against any such attempt, whether it is an error or intentional."

It was the first time in over thirty years a Syrian jet has entered the Zionist airspace.

"At 8:57a.m., a Sukhoi-24 fighter jet crossed 800 meters into Israeli territory and then the decision was made to shoot it down. From the moment that the decision was made until impact, one minute and 20 seconds passed. The missile hit and as far as we know, the Syrian crew ejected successfully," a senior Zionist air force officer told the Hebrew Ynet website.

Syria responded to the incident, saying it was further proof of "Israel's support of the Islamic State group and the Nusra Front," the al-Qaeda-linked rebel group fighting in the Quneitra region.

Recent Western media reports published recently revealed that the Zionist entity has set up field hospitals in the area to heal the wounded among the militants of the so-called 'Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant' (ISIL) terrorist group, due to their battles against the Syrian army.

Some of the wounded in critical conditions are being moved to the depth of the entity to be treated in more advanced hospitals.

The Zionist entity occupied 1,200 square kilometers (460 square miles) of the Golan from Syria during the Six-Day War of 1967, then annexed it in 1981 in a move never recognized by the international community.
