A Jihad movement official said Sunday: “[PA] security services summoned and arrested tens of the Islamic Jihad movement cadres in wake of their participation in the funeral of Iyyad Shelbaya, who was assassinated by Israeli occupation forces Friday morning in his home in the Nour Shams refugee camp.”
The source said the PA is responsible for the lives of the Jihad fighters’ who have been arrested, especially in light of Shelbaya being released from PA custody one day ahead of his assassination.
The PA militia’s moves in the West Bank are set to strike at the resistance movement to serve the interests of Israel, which has failed to do so, the source added.
The resistance structure in the West Bank draws its solidity from the conviction and determination of its followers, their love for their land, and their desire to eliminate the Israeli occupation.
In a separate development, MP Mohammed Jamal al-Natsha, who was released from an eight and a half year prison term in Israel, said in an exclusive statement to the PIC that he is shocked the PA in the West Bank has gone into peace talks with Israel even though negotiators themselves know talks will not restore the rights of the Palestinian people.
He called on Palestinian factions to look past their differences and move towards reconciliation, noting that the Legislative Council has been out of operation because of division, and must be re-activated in order arrange Palestine’s future status.
Natsha, who spent the last four-years of his term in solitary confinement, said the Israeli prison department’s keeping prisoners in solitary confinement weighs heavily on prisoners’ psychological situation.
