Protest in Berlin demands Germany courts to punish Israeli war criminals

BERLIN, (PIC)-- Hundreds of German citizens and pro-Palestinian activists rallied in Berlin to demand the prosecution of Israeli war criminals for the crimes they committed in the war on the Gaza Strip in the winter of 2008 and their deadly attack on Freedom Flotilla convoy.

The protest was considered the first of its kind being held in Germany outside the headquarters of the European commission.

The demonstrators demanded the federal constitutional court in Karlsruhe city to accept the lawsuit filed against Israel by head of the international alliance against impunity Mai Khansaa and a group of lawyers.

The lawsuit is about war crimes, mass killing of civilians, and Israel's use of internationally-banned weapons during the war on Gaza in addition to the murder of nine Turks traveling in international waters during a military raid on Freedom Flotilla aid convoy in last May.

The protesters carried banners calling for enforcing the international law against Israel for the crimes it committed in its war on Gaza. One of the banners read "Peace will prevail if the Israeli army is brought to court."
