Baroness Tonge discusses detained Palestinian MPs with speaker

LONDON, (PIC)-- The head of the European campaign to release Palestinian lawmakers detained in Israeli jails, Baroness Jenny Tonge, discussed the issue of those MPs with the speaker of the British parliament.

The discussion tackled means of activating the issue at international platforms in addition to incriminating the kidnap of representatives of the people according to international laws.

Tonge urged the speaker to direct official invitations to members of the Palestinian legislative council (PLC) in a bid to get acquainted with the tragic conditions in the besieged Gaza Strip and to discuss pending issued topped by the detained PLC members.

A press release by the campaign said that Tonge called for pressures on Israel to immediately release the remaining 16 deputies held in Israeli jails.

A delegation of the European campaign comprising Tonge among other European parliamentarians visited Gaza last month. She met with MPs Mushir Al-Masri and Huda Naim to exchange views on means of activating the issue of the detained MPs
